OWEN O’NEILL

Owen O’Neill’s latest volume of poetry, ‘Licking the Matchbox’, was published last July. Since first performing his poetry in 1985 with the release of ‘Apples and Snakes’, Owen has read at major literary festivals, including Hay on Wye, Cork, Belfast & St Andrew’s.

As a comedian, writer and director, Owen O’Neill is award winning; he adapted ‘Shawshank Redemption’ for the stage in 2013, following rave reviews it will transfer to the West End this year; his short film ‘The Basketcase’ won best short at the Boston Film Festival in 2010; and in 2012 he won best actor for his off Broadway one–man play ‘Absolution’.

‘O’Neill’s animated passionate performance brings his poetry to life and puts each piece into perfect context.’ Glasgow Herald

‘Thought provoking and entertaining. A brilliant Fringe experience.’ Chortle

‘O’Neill is not only a poet but an actor and stand–up comedian and uses these skills to great affect when performing his poetry.’ Scotsman
