The City of Lisburn and Castlereagh Mayors Carnival Parade and Family Fun Day 6 April 2019

Roll Up! Roll Up!  Prepare to Be Dazzled as ‘The City of Lisburn & Castlereagh 2019 Mayor’s Carnival Parade & Family Fun Day ‘It’s ShowTime!’ Comes to Town on Saturday 6 April 2019.

Lisburn is the place to be on Saturday 6 April 2019, when the curtain raises on ‘The City of Lisburn & Castlereagh 2019 Mayor’s Carnival Parade and Family Fun Day, ‘It’s ShowTime!’.

The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh, Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh, Councillor Uel Mackin, highlights what’s on offer at this year’s epic extravaganza!

“It’s ShowTime!’ combines the dazzling spectacle of Ireland’s most celebrated carnival acts, and a host of fabulous entertainment experiences.

“I am proud this top cultural attraction will also help raise funds for my Mayoral Charity, The Cancer Fund for Children”.

Thousands of revellers are expected to throng the carnival route to see the show–stopping swirl of movement and colour makes its way from ISLAND Arts Centre through the city centre streets.

The Show Must Go On

An afternoon of ‘It’s ShowTime!’ festive fun continues at the Carnival Village, which takes over Wallace Park from 12.30 – 5.00pm.  A multitude of theatrical treats and electrifying acts with a Greatest Showman vibe will mix with Fun Fairs, arty antics and adrenaline fuelled arena acts.

A highlight of the afternoon is the world premiere of ‘The Showman is Coming’.  Starring West End Les Miserables leading man, Peter Corry it combines the passion of Moulin Rouge, Bohemian Rhapsody with the spectacle of Barnum Circus and the energy of The Greatest Showman.

Alderman Paul Porter, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure & Community Development Committee said:

“Mayor’s Carnival Parade and Family Fun Day 2019 is back with enormous gusto.  Truly of the community, yet world class, it fuses the imaginations of hundreds of professional artists, school children and local groups to form an attraction that, in every respect, is our city’s greatest show.

I look forward to welcoming people to ‘It’s ShowTime!’ on Saturday 6 April and would encourage you to share your carnival experience with us by using the #BePartOfHere.

Carnival Parade Route

Mayor’s Carnival Parade sets off from ISLAND Arts Centre at 1pm and sweeps its way through Lisburn City Centre via Queen’s Road, Linenhall Street, Market Street, Market Place, Railway Street, Magheralave Road, Wallace Park, Belfast Road and Seymour Street before returning to ISLAND Civic Centre via Queen’s Road.  So there will be plenty of opportunity for onlookers to capture the carnival magic as it passes through the streets.  Just be sure to select your viewing point early and allow extra time for some traffic disruption.
