Life doesn’t get much better than listening to live music with family and friends outdoors.  So for the ultimate feel–good evening, and a truly special experience, pack you picnic and start your summer on a high note with The People’s Concert in Wallace Park, Saturday 23 June 7 – 9:30pm.

The special Bicentenary Gala concert, is part of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s 200th Birthday celebrations of Sir Richard Wallace – philanthropic landlord and art collector, whose name lives on in many Lisburn landmarks.

Thousands of people are expected to come together to enjoy songs from the world’s greatest West End musicals, blockbusting Hollywood soundtracks, all–time favourite Opera classics and haunting Celtic melodies which will appeal to all ages.

Performing and hosting the dazzling extravaganza will be Northern Ireland’s greatest showman Peter Corry.

For more than 25 years singer, director, producer and actor Peter has delighted audiences with his award–winning performances and a talent that has taken him to stages all over the world from London’s West End to Las Vegas.

Peter will bring real charisma to the stage and his rich vocal powerhouse will be a perfect surround sound for the stunning historical setting of Wallace Park (formerly known as the People’s Park and which was gifted to the people of Lisburn by Sir Richard).

Appearing alongside Peter with their own distinct sound will be the amazing, Anúna.  Remember the beautiful, hypnotic choral ambience of Riverdance? World famous Celtic chamber choir Anúna creates an enchanting sound like no other.  With elements of new age, Celtic, classical and folklore, their atmospheric performance, will be sure to memorise spectators as dusk settles on Wallace Park.

Sir Richard Wallace’s legacy was very much about discovering and nurturing artistic talent.  It is fitting that the People’s Concert will shine a spotlight firmly on young local stars of tomorrow.

30 singers from Wallace High School’s Junior Chamber Choir will take to the stage in a performance that will leave you unable to resist singing along.  Also sharing the billing are exceptional home–grown talents Zoë Jackson and Nik Parks.

Zoë recently undertook her first steps as a professional singer in the world of musical theatre and opera.  Singer/Actor/Director & Vocal Coach, Nik has just returned home after 5 years of international touring.

Finally, bringing the evening to a thrilling close will be a hair raising grand finale featuring two Highland pipers.

Entry to the concert is strictly ticket only

The Wallace Delhi Hope Project

In recognition of Sir Richard Wallace’s philanthropic legacy, a living legacy Charity has been established.  This new charity is called “The Wallace Delhi Hope Project” and builds on the international work of the Wallace High School with the Asha Charity in India.  The Asha Charity works in the slums of New Delhi to improve healthcare, sanitation, community culture, education and employability.  The Wallace Delhi Hope Project will improve access to clean water in the Mayapuri Slum, New Delhi.  To donate, please visit mydonate.bt.com/events/whsdelhihope

It is very fitting that this charity has been chosen to raise money in the Bicentenary of Sir Richard Wallace who donated 55 water fountains to provide clean drinking water to the people of Paris and Lisburn.  It is only right that we all play our part in helping to ensure clean water is available to the poor in Dehli.

Please give generously to this charity to help purchase and install water filters to purify water and apply anti–larval measures to control the spread of diseases such as malaria.
