The Ulster Association of Youth Drama
The Ulster Association of Youth Drama was set up in 1998 to assist in the development of theatre and drama for young people (11-25 years) across Northern Ireland. UAYD provides programmes which encourage and increase opportunities for young people to:
Participate in and attend youth theatre
Develop skills and build upon experience gained through local youth theatres and school drama societies
Gain support and advice through information services and publications
UAYD is managed by a voluntary committee elected from its membership. Members benefit from a range of events and services including exclusive, free or subsidised activities and receive advance notice of forthcoming programmes. In addition to training events, bursary schemes and information services, UAYD organises a key annual event to encourage member organisations and individuals to work together in a major exploration and presentation of youth drama skills.
Projects include:
Outreach workshops to schools and member groups
Summer residential performing arts training programme
Full scale Youth Theatre productions at professional theatres
Technical/backstage workshops
Workshop courses across Northern Ireland
Two bursary schemes to assist young people from Northern Ireland access further training
