Children’s Art Festival Week 2

Children’s Art Festival Week 2

Week 2: What I like About You

It’s time to have an Animal Parade!

With imaginations ignited, this week will see some new animal species get created by the children to represent #BePartofHere with a focus on upcycling old materials. This takes into importance everyone’s impact on the community and environment. There will be two trips this week, to Wallace Park and the Irish Linen Museum to inspire what type of natural habitat each child’s animal will have. The children will also take part in an archaeological dig whilst creating a time capsule that will be a lovely legacy for the children to leave at ISLAND Arts Centre for years to come. On Friday afternoon, an animal sculpture created by the children will be revealed at the exhibition for all to come along and enjoy.

About Children’s Art Festival: Young people aged 4 – 13 years will join like–minded creatives to create, design and turn their ideas into action through group and solo projects. The choice of four creative weeks will include visual arts, drama, dance and music. Parents have peace of mind too, knowing that Arts Weeks bring together a range of energetic professional artists and performers who specialise in working with children and young people. Classes are grouped into small appropriate age bands and are individually tailored so that no two days are the same.

Mission Statement

"Lisburn City Council's Arts Service exists to provide a balanced and accessible programme of arts and cultural experience in a way that inspires its citizens and visitors to benefit from artistic engagement."

To achieve these values, 8 policy statements were created to provide Lisburn City Council with a strategic focus for the promotion and advancement of the arts both at and through Island Arts Centre, all of which have equal priority. Please see Arts Service Objectives for these.

To achieve these values, 4 themes have been created with a range of AIMS and OBJECTIVES to drive the strategy forward over the next 3 years.
