At the heart of the exhibition, is the exceptional talent of ISLAND favourite, artist Katie Blue. A maverick recycler and junk sculptor, Katie’s trademark humour and artistic alchemy transforms everyday junk and discarded toys into a marvellous menagerie of animals to the delight of kids and their grown-ups.
Designed to teach and entertain, one fun attraction is Katie’s colourful prints, inspired by toy animals made from socks! Many of Katie’s interactive recycled sculptures are lovingly inspired by animal stories in the news, highlighting issues of conservation and animal welfare, providing information that parents can use to help kids learn about these amazing creatures.
A real celebration of imaginative play, ISLAND’s magical Art Zoo has lots of delicious moments and bite-size surprises that will bring ISLAND’s galleries roaring to life.
