Cappella Caeciliana is one of Northern Ireland’s leading chamber choirs. Under the direction of Donal McCrisken (Musical Director since 1999) the 20 member ensemble has performed in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the USA as well as closer to home.
Cappella specialises in singing sacred music, in both liturgical and concert settings, but has a broader repertoire. Recent performances have included a Titanic anniversary concert with the Ulster Orchestra, singing 'Requiem for the Lost Souls of the Titanic' in Belfast’s two cathedrals, and providing the music for the renowned ballet dancer Carlos Acosta at the Belfast Festival at Queens.
The choir has made three CD recordings and broadcasts frequently on the BBC. This is its first concert in ISLAND Arts Centre. Cappella will perform a varied selection of music from the 16th to the 21st centuries, both sacred and secular, and including operatic and Irish favourites.
