Ann Marie Robinson Reflections on Thirty Years of Clay

Ann Marie Robinson Reflections on Thirty Years of Clay

Ann Marie graduated from the University of Ulster in 1981 with an honours degree in 3-D Design. She has exhibited widely in Ireland, the UK, Germany and the US and has produced many pieces for private and public clients including the late Dr Mo Mowlam, Senator George Mitchell and former President Mary Robinson.

Her work is currently in the contemporary collections of the Ulster Museum and the National Museum of Ireland. Ann Marie has won many awards including the Etain Hickey award for best surface decoration and the Barry’s Tea award for one of her teapots.

Teapots will feature heavily in this 30 years’ retrospective show as Ann Marie has always loved the challenge of a teapot, balancing form with handle, spout and lid. All of her pots start out as a ball of clay which is pinched and coiled into shape, refined at a drier stage and then sumptuously decorated with velvet underglazes and gold lustre.
