ISLAND Arts Centre is delighted to announce the launch of our new 2013 season programme for Kids and Family! Activities are tailor–made to get kids using their imaginations in an environment that it not only safe and welcoming but creative as well. With everything from arty workshops to the magic of the movies there’s something for kids (both big and small) at the ISLAND.
Programmes for 1–4 year olds are aimed at the ISLAND’S youngest patrons. Offering a range of workshops to help develop creativity – they are also a great way for parents to find out what activities can be done at home. Classes include: ‘Jelly Tots’ and ‘Pots for Tots’ where imagination and creativity come together to bring out the artist in every child.
The ISLAND Kids programmes for 4–6 year olds are designed to encourage creative development in a friendly, stimulating and supportive environment. There’s something for everyone from the ‘Friday Kids Club’ to ‘Alice In Wonderland’s Animal Friends’ where crafty creatures from the wacky world of Lewis Carroll come to life.
ISLAND Kids programmes for 7–11 year olds are the ideal way for slightly older children to explore their imaginations and make new friends along the way! On Saturdays, Artist–in–residence Andrea McCullough–Alderdice takes ‘Culture Club’ where children can explore their own creativity through paint, clay, print and sculpture; there’s also some fabulous one–off workshops such as: ‘Chinese New Year Craft’ and ‘Make A Kite’ – just perfect as the brighter mornings start to come round.
There’s also fun for all the family in ISLAND Family Workshops, which include everything from pottery to a chocolate making workshop.
For families wanting to book ahead for Easter, ISLAND Arts Centre is hosting a Kids Mini–fest for three days at Easter. Running between Wednesday April 3, and Friday April 5, the festival is an artist–led extravaganza of arty antics and movie making madness! Best of all parents can book their kids in for one day – or all three: Whatever suits!
