Celtic Airs and Graces

Celtic Airs and Graces

Flautist Karin Leitner
Harpist Cormac de Barra

An evening of romantic, evocative and atmospheric music from this celebrated duo. This uplifting collection of music features Irish Airs, haunting Celtic melodies, lively jigs and reels, as well as classical gems and virtuoso pieces that date from past centuries right up to the present day.

Austrian Karin Leitner is a world renowned flautist. She is soloist with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Vienna Mozart Orchestra, and Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra amongst others; and Principal Flute and Piccolo in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Cormac de Barra, who plays with Clannad, Moya Brennan, Enya and Hazel O’Connor, is one of Ireland’s finest harpists. He studied concert harp in the USA with Leone Paulson, a Julliard graduate and student of the world famous harpist, Carlos Salzedo.

Volunteer Positions

At Island Arts Centre, each volunteer activity is created and designed to serve the goals of the arts centre while matching particular skills, abilities and aspirations of each volunteer and ensuring a relevant and fulfilling experience

WHAT SORT OF COMMITMENT DO I HAVE TO MAKE?

That is entirely up to you! You might prefer to commit to see through a particular project or find it easier to say you can give a fixed number of hours a week or a month. For example, the volunteer time commitment for performances is normally three-four hours per show. Island Arts Centre's Studio Volunteers for example should be prepared to commit to helping for the duration of a class. Classes run both daytime and evenings are usually a couple hours long and run for 10-12 weeks.
