Andrea McCullough
Graduating with a B.A in Fine & Applied Arts, Ceramics & PG Diploma, Andrea McCullough is the highly talented & imaginative ceramic artist behind the a=mc 2 brand.
Andrea McCullough has combined teaching and making over the last 8 years and works predominantly on exhibitions and one-off commissions.
Andrea first came to prominence with her "quirky and playful series of sculptural ceramics" with influences drawn from banquets, castles, jesters and dragons.
The breadth of handbuilding techniques that Andrea employs allows an expression and freedom of movement that lends character to each piece of her work. Her goblets tend to lean conversationally to their partner, whilst her boat forms allow a very visual illusion of forward movement, and her latest "fossil forms" twist and bend in a rhythmic, organic sense.
An artist striving for constant challenge her work develops, evolves and changes, yet often her characteristic oxide washes and blue tone glazes, mark each price with her own inimitable signature. Her commissioned works to date have stemmed from exhibition pieces that were specifically tailored for the client.
